About Us 
Team Phoenix and Birtley Basketball Club were established in September 2005 to facilitate basketball development in central and southern Gateshead as well as the neighbouring areas of Washington and Chester-le-Street. Based at Lord Lawson of Beamish School in Birtley, the club is now one of the largest in the North East.
  
From January 2006, Birtley Basketball Club have taken part in the Eagles' Community Foundation Central Venue League (CVL).
 
Team Phoenix 'A' currently compete in CVL D1 Under 18, Team Phoenix 'B' ply their trade in CVL D2 Under 16, Team Phoenix 'C' play in CVL D3 Under 14 and Team Phoenix 'D' play in D4 Under 12. The club also has two senior teams where post-18 players have the opportunity to play in TyneMet League Divisions 2 and 3.

CVL
Working in partnership with Tyne & Wear Basketball Development the Newcastle Eagles Community Foundation CVL offers competitive Basketball competition for all ages. Primarily a development league, the CVL provides league competition across 5 Divisions from under 12's to under 20's and Girl's.
